The University of St. Thomas Department of Emerging Media, seeks applicants for a one-year, full-time, benefit-eligible, visiting faculty member beginning in fall 2026 (preferred start date of August 1, 2026). This is a one-year, non-tenure-track position for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The successful candidate will teach six courses (24 credits) in advertising and public relations and other courses in mass communication as needed. Past materials are available for candidate use if desired. This position will also co-advise the student chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.
In addition to teaching, the faculty member is expected to perform service to the department, university, and community. The ideal candidate will show evidence of a strong record of accomplishments in teaching at the undergraduate level and scholarly work and publication in relevant disciplines. Professional experience is desired but not required.
About the Department of Emerging Media
Located within the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Emerging Media emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning in three majors: Journalism, Digital Media Arts, and Strategic Communication: Advertising and Public Relations. It is also home to a chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, and the student media, The Crest. Faculty are active in both practice and in scholarly research that is relevant to the majors.

The salary range is for this position is $65,000 - $70,000.
The University of St. Thomas has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
Ph.D. (U.S. or Foreign Equivalent) in advertising, public relations, strategic communication, mass communication or a related field, or alternatively, ABD candidates nearing completion will also be considered. Demonstrated college- or university-level teaching experience is required.
