OVERVIEW

The Entrepreneurship Department at the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, renewable clinical faculty position. The starting date for this position will be August 2026.

 

Clinical faculty are vital members of our program and impact our students in many ways both in and out of the classroom. Individuals in this role also contribute significantly to program development and building our brand in the business community, and are offered the opportunity for promotion in rank and compensation.

 

Our Entrepreneurship Department prides itself on delivering a world-class student experience, and we are seeking candidates who demonstrate exceptional teaching/mentorship ability, a desire to engage in service activities that are student-centric, and the ability to connect our students to start-up and/or small business opportunities. Duties for this position include:

  • Teaching the equivalent of 6 full-semester sections at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, in a wide range of courses with topics that include opportunity assessment, launching ventures, innovation and design thinking, and entrepreneurial finance depending on the candidate’s experience.
  • Engaging in service that includes activities such as advising Entrepreneurship majors, mentoring students in various competitions, and other college-related and university-related service.
  • Staying professionally active by engaging in a portfolio of professional activities.

 

About the Entrepreneurship Program

 

The Schulze School of Entrepreneurship was recently ranked #11 by the Princeton Review for best undergraduate entrepreneurship programs nationwide and #1 in Minnesota. The Schulze School is host to a number of student competitions that includes the largest undergraduate pitch competition in the U.S. (e-Fest), an accelerator partnership with Gener8tor for current St. Thomas students and alumni, a four-year, full-tuition scholarship program for select incoming students majoring in entrepreneurship, a variety of programs that engage the start-up and small business community in the Twin Cities, and many other initiatives on and off campus.

 

The Entrepreneurship Department is housed in the Opus College of Business, which is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. The College offers an undergraduate Entrepreneurship major, which is among the ten largest majors on campus, an undergraduate Entrepreneurship minor, and several graduate-level entrepreneurship courses.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D., Ed.D., or alternatively MBA, Master’s degree, U.S. or foreign equivalent, in Entrepreneurship or a closely-related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching
  • The ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in entrepreneurship
  • Experience starting, running, mentoring, and/or consulting with start-ups or small businesses

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of start-up and/or small business management experience
  • Experience with new venture and/or small business finance
  • Record of excellence in teaching entrepreneurship in higher education

 

Salary and Benefits

The University of St. Thomas offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits program, which includes:

Salary Range: $92,000 to $103,000

 

The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
