The University of St. Thomas Biology Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2018.
We are seeking a biologist who is committed to building a career as a scholar and a teacher. Candidates with expertise in systems biology and bioinformatics are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will exhibit potential to teach undergraduate biology courses at introductory and/or upper-division levels. We value the potential to contribute to more than one of the undergraduate majors that the Biology Department supports (Biology, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Global Health, and Neuroscience). The successful candidate will establish a high-quality research program that provides opportunities for undergraduate collaboration and has the potential to be competitive for external funding.
Research support will include generous start-up funds, laboratory/computing space in a modern science facility, and a substantial time allocation for mentoring undergraduate research partners. The Biology Department is committed to undergraduate education and engaging undergraduate students in a dynamic research environment. Our full-time faculty are regular recipients of major, externally-funded research grants, and our facilities are well-equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation.
