The Department of Computer and Information Sciences at the University of St. Thomas invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Applied Statistics, to begin in September 2018.

The Department of Computer and Information Sciences (http://www.stthomas.edu/cisc/) offers Bachelor of Science degree programs in statistics and computer science. Moreover, the department supports numerous degree programs across the university with courses in statistics and computing and is currently exploring interdisciplinary opportunities in data science, big data, and data analytics.
The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in applied statistics, data analytics, and statistical computing that are housed in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences. The standard teaching load for this position is three course sections (generally two preparations) per semester. It is expected that a successful candidate will maintain a productive research agenda and engage in service to the department, college and/or university. Candidates who have a history of collaboration and consultation with faculty and professionals in other disciplines are of particular interest to the department.
A Ph.D. (U.S. or foreign equivalent degree) in applied statistics, quantitative methods, or a closely related field is required or alternatively, ABD candidates will be considered. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and show strong potential for productive research/scholarly activities in applied statistics, data analytics, statistics education, statistical computing or a closely related field. Fluency in a variety of data analysis platforms is required and expertise in R is preferred.
